Hi I’m
Patrick Baron.
I'm standing as a candidate for this months ASA by-election for a
new Post-Graduate respresentative.
Just a little bit
about me...
I started fulltime studies during 2002,
originally working towards a BA in Business Psychology. After 3 hard
years of study, I finally
completed my degree last semester majoring in both History and
Psychology. Despite the temptations of fulltime employment, I've
returned this year to do my BA Honours degree in History.
So why do I want
serve as your Post-Graduate representative?
Firstly
I enjoy helping and
serving people in this capacity.
During
2003 I had the opportunity to serve as class & college
representative for Psychology students. While it was a real learning
curve I really enjoyed the experience batting for students and would
like to once again serve my fellow students. One thing I
discovered is that the key to suceeding in a "representative role" is
to to be 100% committed in both word and deed to "the job".

Secondly,
I see a need for
better facilities & services for
Post-Graduate students. While I want to make sure the university
carry
through their plans to provide a PG common rooms and additional study
facilities, these won't come into effect until 2006 at the earliest.
Instead I want place special focus on improving our existing facilities
& services during this
year.
Much of this will involve getting "little" annoyances and issues
addressed. However its often the "little things" that matter to people
rather than do collectively add up towards
lifting the quality of Post-Graduate life on campus...
